In this Short 1 minute video on Excel Tips & Tricks, we discuss the SORT Function in Excel.
Excel SORT function sorts the contents of a range or array in both ascending and descending order. You can sort the values by one or more columns. SORT returns a dynamic array of results.
=SORT (array, [sort_index], [sort_order], [by_col])
Array (required) – the range or array from which to return unique values.
(optional)
[sort_index]
Indicates which column or row to sort by Default is 1
[sort_order]
1 = Ascending,
-1 = Descending.
Default is ascending order
[by_col]
TRUE-sort by column
FALSE = sort by row
Default is FALSE
The function is an array function i.e. the result automatically spills into the neighbouring cells vertically or horizontally.
