In this Short video on Excel Tips & Tricks, we discuss UNIQUE Function in Excel.
UNIQUE is a powerful Excel function, which can return a list of distinct or unique values from a list.
It works with any data type: text, numbers, dates, times, etc.
=UNIQUE (array, [by_col], [exactly_once])
Array (required) – the range or array from which to return unique values.
(optional)
[By_col]
TRUE – compares data across columns.
FALSE or omitted (default) – compares data across rows.
[Exactly_once]
TRUE – values that occur exactly once,
FALSE= all unique values (default).
The UNIQUE function is an array function i.e. the result automatically spills into the neighboring cells vertically or horizontally.
